Welcome to our home on the web!

Floral and Hardy Farm is a specialty cut flower farm.  We grow unique varieties  of cut flowers and interesting botanical materials.  Tim and I have been growers since 1996.  Our crops usually begin to bloom in February with beautiful anemones and end around Halloween with sunflowers, grasses and grains.  The majority of our flowers are sold at wholesale prices to florists in Aiken, Augusta and Atlanta.  We also sell flowers and plants at retail prices to the public at the ALL- LOCAL farmer's market in downtown Columbia, S.C.

We only sell what we produce.  All of our high-quality fresh flowers are produced on the farm either in the field or in our coldframes.  Our flowers and foliages are also produced sustainably with out chemical fertilizers or pesticides.  Though we are not certified organic, we use the same practices so as to not contaminate our water supply.  Drip irrigation is used to conserve water as well.  Our goal is to leave this land in better shape than we found it.

AND -- Our flowers are cut early in the morning and put immediately into water. Then they are taken to an air-conditioned studio and allowed to drink for several hours before they are processed and put in the cooler for delivery the next day.

We intentionally seek out hard-to-ship flowers that are not readily available to most florists and deliver them with care.  You can expect new varieties of flowers to be added to our mix every year!

Tim and I love what we do, and we sincerely hope that you enjoy our flowers!

Some of our most treasured employees...

Why buy Floral & Hardy Farm Flowers?

Because they’re fresh!

Flowers from florists come from wholesalers who buy from farms in South America and Holland. Wholesalers may have the flowers for several days before they get to the florist. Flowers from out of the country are also full of lots of toxic chemicals. For a very interesting article about this subject click on : www.ehponline.org/members/2002/110-5/focus.html

Floral & Hardy farm flowers are sold locally so they require less fossil fuels than most flowers to deliver.

Buying LOCALLY counts for a lot more than you can image. Without LOCAL support farmland will be lost to development. And, farmland lost is farmland lost forever. Know where your flowers and produce come from, and get to know the farmers who grow for you!

THE ALL- LOCAL FARMERS MARKET

is probably the best market in South Carolina.  Held on the 2nd and the 4th Saturday of EVERY month, the market offers fresh products from REAL South Carolina farmers. No re-sales at this market!  You can actually talk to the farmers who produce what you are purchasing, like the state farmers market USED to be. And you can eat an all-local breakfast consisting of caw caw creek pork, anson mills grits and wil-moore farms eggs. There is also a french crepe maker who makes crepes to your order.

The second Sat. is held in the courtyard between Gervais & Vine and Carolina wings restaurants on Gervias St.

The fourth Sat. is held in the parking lot of Rosewood market on Rosewood Drive

Check our links page for vendors at the market

Our flowers can be found in Columbia at the following florists:
American Floral, Devine flowers,  Rish flower shop, Rosewood florist and Something Special florist
